Responsible for citywide voice
and data systems relating to PBX and
network switches. Installs,
configures, tests, troubleshoots and
repairs City's voice and data
circuits. Performs maintenance
of voicemail system which includes
performing backups as needed.
Performs troubleshooting of network
data communications for desktop and
server clients. Installs and
troubleshoots voice and data drops
throughout the City's
infrastructure. Troubleshoots
voice and data T-1, PRI, ISDN, DS-3,
frame-relay and point-to-point
circuits. Performs hardware
and software inventories as
needed. Interacts with vendors
to ensure fast and efficient repair
services. Develops and
maintains technical documentation of
processes, procedures and produces
training materials. Keeps
abreast of latest trends and
technologies. Performs wide
variety of other related duties and
assignments required.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced and specialized
troubleshooting, diagnosis and
problem resolution in focused areas
such as MDCs, radios, phones,
networking, printers, PCs or other
devices; advanced and specialized
expert knowledge of focused software
such as operating systems, ACCESS,
PowerPoint, Excel, Word, or other
software applications; complex tools
and techniques for focused problem
resolution.
Education: AA degree in
computer science or closely related
field; completion of specialized
training such as 2 years of
electronics, telecommunications
studies, or various advanced
certifications demonstrating
specific skill sets obtained.
Experience: Two or more
years as an Info Sys Tech III or
equivalent. Experience with
Active Directory and/or MS Server
2003 is highly desirable. Must
pass a police background
investigation. Possess a valid
class "C" California
driver's license at time of
appointment.

Responsibilities
Develop network architectures
that meets or exceeds customer
Service Level Agreements at the
lowest implementation and
operational costs.
Provide proactive oversight of
the network architecture maintenance
to ensure that life cycle
engineering modifications remain
consistent with business and
technical requirements. Maintain
highest standards of technical
expertise. Provide professional and
technical leadership to engineers
throughout the company.
This position is responsible for
understanding all customer
designs/technologies and partnering
with customers, vendors, and
teammates to assist with
implementation and day to day
operation of the network
infrastructure. Serves as highest
level of support to provide
technical leadership and expertise
when issues are escalated. Provides
expert level, On Site support in the
following areas: day to day
operations, design reviews, high
level implementation plans,
implementation support,
configuration review, proactive
network analysis, and knowledge
transfer. Enforces enterprise
standards, processes and procedures.
Mentors junior engineers. Works to
ensure that network performance
exceeds that of the contracted
service levels.
